Columbus Day 1

For the girls' birthdays this year we decided to take another trip (last year we did a DC trip), instead of having a large party.  We headed to Columbus, coincidentally where the newest American Girl Store just opened :)

We drove down Thursday night and headed to COSI (a hands on science museum) on Friday morning.  We spent all day there - literally almost 7 hours. Even Logan got to play in their little kids' center.  The girls built water pipes, played a submarine, and braved a hurricane wind tunnel.  Logan played at a water table and climbed through forts.  While Logan napped, the girls and Justin went to a 3D movie about butterflies and saw a show called Lights, Camera Action - about explosions!  K also got to play in their grade school center (xbox, legos etc), where they had a TON of craft supplies and told the kids to invent anything.  She came up with a house and a snowman.  We all enjoyed the day, but agreed the our Pittsburgh Science Center and Children's Museum is just as good as COSI.

Kaelin is 7!!

Kaelin turned 7 on August 6th! She will be in 2nd grade this fall!  She has an amazingly creative mind, and loves art.  She starts art lessons in September, and she is so excited!!   She is in love with accessorizing her outfits: jewelry, hats, purses etc.  She is also interested in science, and likes to read.

Her birthday started at home with polichintas (crepes), yogurt and fruit.  After breakfast we headed to build a bear where she chose an adorable bunny. Then we went to Toys R Us where she chose this marble maze kit.  Afterwards, we headed to Red Lobster for lunch.  She wanted lobster, crab and shrimp. She got 2 out of 3.

Usually, after lunch we head for a nap/rest time...but because of the special day we headed to Despicable Me2 with the whole family.   It was very cute and enjoyed by all...Logan likes to say bee bo, bee bo, bee bo now :).

That evening was the girls' cheerleading awards.  They both did great, they love to be on stage :)  Afterwards we got to get ice cream with some friends at DQ, and then hang out with Uncle Jasey.

Since she is getting so big, I should also mention that she got to have her first sleepover! Her friend Kylie spent the night on Friday, August 2nd.  They both did very well.  It was a spur of the moment decision, that they both enjoyed!

Magee Family Reunion 2013

On Sunday, August 4th we had the annual Magee family reunion.  We had about 60 people join together at Tom & Barb's for a potluck lunch and white elephant auction.  The big hit of the auction, was a pogo stick, which all of the kids (and big kids) had to try!

Hailey is 5!

Hailey is school aged now!  She turned 5 on July 30th!  She will start Kindergarten in September.  We cannot believe it.  She is so fully of joy and laughter.  She loves to play makeover and hairdresser, dolls and barbies.

We had a very busy day yesterday.  It started with a doctor appointment for me.  So while I was there, Justin and the kids had a fun breakfast at Friendly's.  Then we stopped into Toys R Us to hear Hailey's birthday announcement and get a balloon.  She also picked out a gift from us - a cleaning cart.  haha  Then we stopped at Build A Bear and she picked out a new bear, Rapunzel :).  She used money from Grandma Jan for it.  This is the 3rd year we have done this on her birthday.  She is very proud of her Build A Bear family, which now totals 6 animals.  She chose to have lunch at Olive Garden!  She wanted breadsticks.

After an afternoon nap, the girls had a football game to cheer at.  Then we met family at Wedgewood pizza - a big favorite for Hailey, followed by cake at our house!

Broken Elbow and a Missing Tooth

July seems to be a month of change for us.  For starters, on June 30th, I slipped and fell on the kitchen floor and broke my elbow and sprained my wrist.  This has been pretty difficult for me for many reasons. They only casted me for a week or so!  According to the doctors, the ligaments and tendons in your arm will scar tissue very quickly, and you can lose mobility.  So, after a week, the cast was removed, and a sling was put on.  Several times a day I have to stretch my arm, twisting and bending, it is pretty sore.  Most of the pain and swelling is several inches below my wrist though.  My mobility is improving, though I am still having difficulty straightening it fully.  My next doctor appointment is Tuesday, July 30th, so we will see what I have to do then.

July 4th was a blast with the kids. The girls liked the fireworks, Logan couldn't decide.  We made their shirts, and I LOVED the way they turned out. I plan to make them again next year!

Hailey with her 2nd cousin, Carlee

The girls have also continued participating our our church sports league - now called All-Out Sports. This season they are cheering for flag football.  They have Ms. Bethany as their coach (for the 4th season now...I think).  We had picture day, complete with team pics, silly team pics, and then because we knew the photographer (Aunti Jecca), the girls got a picture taken together.  I love it!

Last weekend Justin was out of town, but the kids, Aunti Jecca and I needed haircuts!  Thanks to some help from Uncle Chris, we were able to make it happen.  I have gotten highlights this summer for the first time in about 6 years, and LOVE them.  Lindsey (our hairdresser) put some chocolate lowlights in as well.  My hair is also the longest it has been since Justin and I were married.  Hailey got about 4-5 inches off!  It's still pretty long, especially when wet, but the trim cleaned it up and allowed her curls to be a bit bouncier.  K trimmed about 2 inches off.  Logan cried, ate a sucker and got cleaned up a bit :).  Oh, and Aunti Jecca chopped her hair into a bob above her shoulders!  I didn't get a picture, but it is very cute on her!

Kaelin has always had a very deep interest and talent in art.  We had been looking into classes for her, along with some encouragement from family (especially her Uncle Jason!).  After looking around, we had a couple of options, but then I started to discuss the need with a friend from church. The friend was an art teacher who now home-schools her own kids.  After some time, she decided to host an in home art camp for 4 days, 2 hours a day.  Each day the kids learned about a different artist, from a different time period.  Kaelin LOVED it!  and did so well!  Since the art camp went well, K is going to start taking lessons in September, for two hours, twice a month. She is so excited!

Logan has been growing like crazy in many ways.  He says words now - some just repeating after us, some we don't know what he means, but he does! He really likes to 'talk' on the phone, mostly he just grins while people talk to him!  He loves to be a dare devil, jumping off of things, and running like a maniac.  He likes to try new food.  This past week he tried fish sticks for the first time....the face he made was hysterical!  He did end up eating all of them though!

He also tried egg drop soup for the first time this week.  He inhaled it. He went through two helpings. I was really impressed.  I love egg drop soup, but am the first to admit the texture is a bit weird.  I am proud to say all three of our kids love it and request it.

He also likes to put on glasses, necklaces (much to his dad's dismay) and shoes!

We are preparing for school.  All supplies have been purchased (school supply lists, back packs, lunch bags).  We have about 5.5 weeks until school starts, but we know the time will fly by!  Now we need to start on school clothes- ugh.  It is so hard to dress these girls, nothing that fits their waste is long enough.  Kaelin chose an owl backpack and lunch box (proud Gamma Sig Mommy here :)). Hailey chose a purple sparkly backpack and polka dot lunch box.

Kaelin lost her 3rd tooth yesterday, but wouldn't put it under her pillow! She wanted to wait until Daddy got home!  So, it is awaiting the tooth fairy tonight.  Hopefully the tooth fairy will remember before she falls asleep :).

The next few weeks come with the end of cheer season and a family reunion.  Shockingly, Hailey will turn 5 next Tuesday, and Kaelin will turn 7 the following Tuesday!  I cannot believe they aren't my babies anymore!  We are planning a trip to Columbus August 8-11 for their birthdays this year.  We will visit Jack Hanna's Columbus Zoo, Cosi (Science Learning Center) and of course, the newest American Girl Doll Store!  It will be an exciting trip for all!
